Pierdon, Francois (1821-1904)

The painter and etcher François Pierdon was born in Saint-Gerand-le-Puy (Allier), and later studied under Hector Hanoteau. Pierdon was known for his landscapes and genre scenes, working mainly in the Nivernais and the Bourbonnais. Among his many etchings are some striking studies of the Chateau of Saint-Cloud on fire. Francois Pierdon exhibited at the Salon de Paris from 1853.
