Pequegnot, Auguste (1819 - 1878) Ornements Vases et Decorations, quarto

Auguste Pequegnot was a French painter and engraver. He painted mainly landscapes and beautiful women, studying under the Master Ciceri. He produced a series of one hundred etchings of ornaments, vases, and decorations designed by “the masters.” The prints are of a wide variety of architectural, sculptural, and decorative arts, finely etched or engraved by Pequegnot after such famous artists as Raphael, Durer, Boucher, Watteau, Berain, Guido Reni, Daniel Marot, etc. Together they are a compendium of architectural ornament from the Renaissance through Louis XIV, XV, and XVI periods, ending with the French Empire of the early 19th Century.
These etched, quarto plates are from Auguste Pequegnot’s work “Ornements Vases et Decorations”. The work was published in Paris in 1858. The plates depicted in the work were after noted engravers including Cuvilliers, Berain, Le Pautre, Marot, Ditterlin, Delafosse, Toro, Boucher, and more.
