Benjamin Maund and Rev. John Stevens Henslow produced a botanical publication in 1837 to provide scientific instruction to the British gardener, known as “The Botanist”. These periodicals comprised of five volumes of beautifully executed and hand colored illustrations. The major artist in this publication, and certainly one of the most sought after in England, was Mrs. Withers, whose tremendous talent left a great legacy of illustrations in various publications. In 1825, Maund started the publication of a new periodical, “The Botanic Garden”.

Prints from this publication are quite rare and feature original hand coloring.
