Humphreys, Henry Noel (1810-1879) and Westwood, Lohn Obadiah (1805-1893)
Humphreys was an artist, naturalist, and numismatist, born at Birmingham in 1810. He was educated at King Edward’s School, in Birmingham, and afterwards resided in Italy. He returned to England about 1840. Humphreys was a successful book illustrator, especially of works of natural history such as Westwood’s “British Butterflies”. He was also the author of some popular numismatic handbooks, useful in their day. He died in his London home in 1879.
