Hill, Sir John (1716-1757)

Sir John Hill was primarily renowned for introducing the Linnaean system of classification to England. He first began studying botany after completing an apprenticeship as an apothecary, and later enjoyed many botanical endeavors,
including organizing the dried plant collection and gardens at the Duke of Richmond and Lord Petre.
