Dietrich, Dr. David Nathaniel Friedrich (1800-1888) Forst Flora

Dr. David Dietrich was a major figure in 19th Century German botany. Although he published approximately a dozen important botanical works over a period of more than thirty years, he is most famous as the editor of the monumental and finely illustrated Flora Universalis. Despite the fact that several editions of Dietrichs works were published, they are still difficult to acquire. Dietrichs works are after such illustrious botanical illustrators such as de Candolle, Wildenows, and Sprengels.
This work, “Forst Flora”, comprises of two volumes containing over 300 plates, beautifully engraved and hand colored. A number of tree species are depicted, often with fruit, flowers and flower dissections.
Prints from this publication are quite rare and feature original hand coloring.
