Jacobus de Rubeis

In the mid 17th century, Jacobus de Rubeis published his “Villa Pamphilia Eivsqve Palativm Cvm Suis Prospectibus Statue, Fontes, Vivaria, Theatra, Areolae, Plantarum, Viarvmqve Ordines”, Rome, c. 1670. This publication was a richly illustrated collection of views of the villa and gardens of the estate of Camillo Pamphilia in Rome. Pamphilia, the nephew of Pope Innocent X, was a collector of classical antiquities and art works, which filled his lavish villa and gardens. This work includes various perspective views of the villa and it’s fine formal gardens adorned with fountains and statues.
