Plenck, Joseph Jakob (1738-1807)
Joseph Jakob Plenck was a university teacher of medicine and botany, as well as an author of numerous highly successful scientific works. His work “Plantarum Medicinalum” consisted of seven volumes and contained seven hundred illustrated plates colored by hand which described the medicinal properites of native European plants. The copper plates are drawn on a large scale and boldly colored. Plenck depicts the flowers with the root it was cut from beside it, and the titles appear in both Latin and German.
Prints from this publication are Very Rare and feature original hand coloring.
