Baltard, Louis Pierre (1764-1846)
Louis Pierre Baltard was a French architect and engraver. Originally a landscape painter, after traveling through Italy he, however, bece enthralled with architecture and chose it as his sole profession. Soon after, he was selected to design many important buildings in Paris. While his architectural talents were superb, he is best known as an engraver. His most well known engravings are the large “elephant folio” plates of Paris from his publication “Paris Et Ses Monumens, Mesure” Dessines Et Graves, Ouvrages Dedie A Napoleon Bonaparte”, published in Paris, 1803.
Prints from this publication are quite large and extremely rare
